Alpine - What's in the works
The Alpine Team is working on Web Alpine 2.0!
- In December 2006, the University of Washington received a $100,000
award, one of the first annual Mellon Awards for Technology Collaboration
(MATC). The Mellon Awards honor non-profit organizations for leadership
in collaborative development of open source software tools with particular
application to higher education and not-for-profit activities. (More information on the 2006 MATC winners is available at

- With Alpine, we wanted a fresh user interface for the
Web version. The Mellon Award enabled us to hire an independant
contractor, Michael Yee, to develop our new look.

- Now that Alpine 1.0 has been released, some of our attention is
focused on deploying our new design. Our plan is to get it installed for
testing locally here at the UW. The testing will certainly run in
a few cycles, resulting in a refined and well integrated interface
which you will see in future Alpine releases!
