Shared Leave Program for Classified Non-Union and Contract-Classified Staff, Professional Staff Employees, and Librarians

1.   Policy

Under the provisions of RCW 41.04.650, University of Washington employees who accrue paid leave may donate part of their accumulated vacation leave, sick leave, and/or a personal holiday to another University of Washington state employee.

Moreover, University of Washington state employees may receive shared leave when regular paid leave has been or is about to be depleted because of a severe or extraordinary illness from which the employee suffers, or because the employee has a family member or household member who suffers from a severe or extraordinary illness.
