  • Terminology
  • Invoices for State contracted employee household moves are received and audited by the Office of State Procurement, Traffic Manager in Olympia, WA. After auditing, the invoice is sent to the UW Purchasing Department and then to UW Accounting Operations for payment. This will be invisible to you, the employee, unless Olympia takes exception to items you moved, your shipment exceeded the 15,000 lb. maximum limit, or you used non-allowable services. Then you will be asked to repay.

    For example: You ship 17,000 lb. which is 2,000 lb. over the limit. You will be charged the 2,000 lb. plus charges for packing containers, labor, storage-in-transit, or other costs pro-rated based on weight or flat rates per tariff.

      CWT = hundredweight
      2,000/17,000 = .118

      Transit             2,000 lb. @ $42/CWT (20 x $42)     =   $840.00
      Packing             Total cost $800 X .118             =     94.40
      Containers          Total cost $400 X .118             =     47.20
      Storage-in Transit  2,000 lb. @ $1.25/CWT (20 X $1.25) =     25.00
      WareHse Handling    2,000 lb. @ $2.25/CWT (20 X $2.25) =     45.00
      Cartage             2,000 lb. @ $5.30/CWT (20 X $5.30) =    106.00

                     Total You Owe the UW $1,157.60
