    Insurance

Moving yourself means that you make all arrangements and pay all bills. Upon completion and payment of your move, submit your receipts directly to your hiring department for reimbursement. It may take the UW Payables dept. 2-3 weeks to process reimbursement.

Keep all estimates, receipts, bills of lading, inventory sheets, packing slips, certified weight scale tickets, proof of payments, and any other documentation you receive. These will be needed to demonstrate proof of expenditure for you to be reimbursed.

    You Rent a Truck, etc.

    1. Rentals less than $8000, no estimates are needed.
    2. Rentals $8000 or more, obtain 3 estimates for renting the equipment. If you cannot get 3 estimates, (for example - there is only one rentor in your area), document this for your records.
    3. Use the lowest bid unless you have a valid written reason for not doing so.
    4. Save all fuel receipts.
    Odd things to know:
If you rent a truck and tow your car, the tow bar is not reimburseable but you can get mileage for your car,
You can be reimbursed for only two vehicles. A car and a rental truck, a rental truck and trailer, a car and a trailer, etc.

    Possible Resources:
    Penske Truck Leasing
    Ryder Moving Services
    U-Haul

    You Contract w/a Mover

    1. Contracts less than $8000, no estimates are needed.
    2. Contracts $8000 or more, obtain 3 estimates and keep keep all documentation you receive for each estimate.
    3. Use the lowest bid unless you have a valid written reason for not doing so.
Remember: For contracts more than $8,000, you will be reimbursed at the amount for which the state contracts for these services, regardless of what you contract for.

    Insurance

You can be reimbursed for the cost of insurance, up to a maximum rate of $218.40, for self moves (intrastate or interstate), for full value insurance for a listed coverage up to $75,000. You will not be reimbursed for insurance coverage in excess of $75,000 and you will not be reimbursed for coverage of items that are not allowable.
