Supported Browsers (System Requirements)

About Ariba

Ariba is the software package powering eProcurement. UW is using Ariba for two purposes:
  • Ordering goods through eProcurement from UW Stores and certain partner vendors
  • Routing and approval of various business functions across campus or within subscribing departments
The vendor controls the basic functionality and the hardware and software it can run on.

Current Browser / OS List

Browser Support

C&C supports Ariba on campus. C&C's support is constrained by vendor support. The vendor certifies that certain browsers and operating systems work. As browsers and operating systems are upgraded by their manufacturers, the Ariba vendor chooses which ones to test and certify. When they certify new versions, they de-support older versions; they roll these changes into their next release, about every six months. C&C supports Ariba usage on the browsers and operating systems that the Ariba vendor certifies. Ariba does work at least adequately and sometimes perfectly on some non-certified configurations, but C&C recommends using the certified ones.

Advance Notice of Next Release

Ariba released an upgrade at the end of 2002. The vendor de-supported Win95 and IE 5.0 in the new release. It certified IE 6.0, Netscape 6.2 and Netscape 7 on some operating systems. UW will upgrade to this version Q2 2003.

Upgrading to Recommended Browsers

Please follow your department's procedure for upgrading browsers or operating systems if you need to reconfigure your PC to use eProcurement (powered by Ariba software).
