Unit of Issue

UCC
Uniform Commercial Code - Set of laws compiled by the American Law Institute National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, which are guidelines for modern commercial transactions and make the laws uniform among various jurisdictions.

UW Operations Manual
2 Volume University-wide manual containing policy and procedure information, instructions for completing forms, general information about University operations, employee programs, fiscal management and other pertinent matters. For example, Purchasing procedures are explained in D52.1 to D53.1. A copy is available in the Purchasing Department Reference Station.

UWAT System
Long Distance telephone system used at University of Washington. See University of Washington Staff Directory.

UWMC
University of Washington Medical Center.

Unfair Practice
Do not disclose prices to competitors or attempt to have vendors lower their prices because of the price another company offers you; this is an unfair practice and is detrimental to the University's relationship with the business community.

Unit Price Extension
The calculation of the total price of goods by multiplying the price per unit by the number of units purchased.

Unit Price
The price of a selected unit of a good or service (e.g., price per ton, labor hour, foot).

Unit of Issue
Unit of Issue describes how an item is packaged. For example BX is the unit of issue for Box. PK is the Unit of Issue for Package.

University Records Center
Requisitions and invoices from prior biennia are retained for a number of years as specified by state law.

University Stores
Two stores facilities, Upper Campus Stores and South Campus Stores are maintained as divisions of the Purchasing Department. These stores were established to provide convenient service and to reduce costs through quantity buying of items repeatedly requested by campus departments.

Use Tax
Tax paid directly to Olympia in place of Washington State sales tax on all out of state invoices for vendors with no in state outlets.
