Glossary Terms Beginning with "A"

ACC
Academic Computer Center.

ADP
Administrative Data Processing, old nomenclature for Computing & Communications.

ADT
Security System used in Petty Cash

AG
Attorney General

AMEX
American Express

APL
Applied Physics Laboratory.

ASPR
Armed Service Procurement Regulations. New title DAR, Defense Acquisition Regulations.

Acknowledgment
A form used by a Vendor to advise a Purchaser that his/her order has been received. It usually implies acceptance of the order.

Airbill
Document serving for air transportation as a bill of lading does for marine or rail transportation.

All-or-None Bid
A bid for a number of different items, services, etc., in which the Bidder states that he will not accept a partial award, but will only accept an award for all the items, services, etc., included in the bid. Such bids are acceptable only if provided for in the Invitation for Bids, or if the Bidder quoted prices for all items, services, etc.

Assignment
1) assigning a Buyer 2) assigning a Vendor(s) to a requisition/purchase order.

Audit
Formal periodic check of records to verify correctness and adherence to regulations. University of Washington Purchasing is subject to State of Washington, Federal, and internal University audits.

Authority to sell
See Property Disposal Request.

Award
The presentation of a purchase agreement or contract to a Bidder; the acceptance of a bid or proposal.
