Technical Services Division

The Technical Services Manager heads this division and reports directly to the Chief of Police. This division includes our Communications Center (police dispatching), Geographic Information System (GIS) support, Information Technology (IT) support and the Records Unit.

Communications Center

UW Communications Center (police dispatch) is a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Our dispatchers screen 911 emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch appropriate resources to maintain the safety and well being of our campus community. We staff the center 24 hours per day, every day of the year. Call 911 in an emergency, or 206.685.UWPD (8973) for non-emergencies. Call 206.543.3323 for the non-emergency TTY line.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Support and Information Technology (IT)

Our computer specialists provide support for the technology in the department, including our Records Management and Computer Aided Dispatch software (CAD/RMS), our Mobile Data Computers (MDCs) in the patrol vehicles and the servers we need to support our law enforcement functionality.

Records Unit

The Records Unit maintains all incident reports, accident reports and citations. This unit responds to public records requests from such diverse groups as the media, NFL scouts, other law enforcement agencies and the public. This unit also runs background checks, performs all the data entry for our Records Management System, updates our 60-Day Crime Log and supplies the department's crime statistics to the FBI.
