Requests under the Public Disclosure Act (PDA)
If you wish to review or inspect any specific identifiable records of
the University of Washington Police Department available under the Public
Disclosure Act (PDA), you may make a Public Disclosure request. Requests
for records available under the PDA should be sent to Office of Public
Records & Open Public Meetings, 4014 University Way N. E., Seattle, WA

Crime victims
If you are the victim of a crime and want a copy of the police report,
submit a request to:

The request should include some or all of the following information:
- Your name, address, phone number, and role in the incident
- The incident number
- The date, time, and location of the incident
Crime suspects
If your case has been referred to, and accepted by, a prosecutor, your
attorney will automatically receive copies of all crime reports under the
discovery process. If your case has not been referred to, or not accepted
by, a prosecutor, you may receive a copy of the police report as listed
above for crime victims. The cost of a report is $.15 per page, as
authorized by RCW 42.17.300, not including postage.
The request should include some or all of the following information:
- Your name, address, phone number, and role in the incident
- The incident number
- The date, time, and location of the incident
Insurance claims
If you need a copy of a report to make an insurance claim, either as a
result of a crime or of a traffic accident, you should notify your
insurance company to contact UWPD directly with the identifying
information. The processing fee for insurance-related requests is $8.00
per report. Checks may be made payable to the 'University of Washington
Police Department'. Please include a postage-paid return envelope.

General public
If you want to review any identifiable police report, you may come to
the UWPD during business hours and review an appropriately edited report
free of charge. It will take much less time if you call the records
section for an appointment first.
