UWPD Crime Analysis Unit
The University of Washington’s Crime Analyst draws data from the UWPD’s records management system, crime and intel bulletins from local agencies, intelligence shared in meetings with other police departments and the prosecutors office, regional crime databases, jail records and other sources. Our Crime Analyst examines this data to find crime series, patterns, trends and hot spots. She also researches and analyzes long-term problems, makes predictions about crime, and relays intelligence to patrol on individuals who are criminally active in the University district. Criminals don’t stay within one jurisdiction, so our Crime Analyst liaisons with law enforcement agencies to keep the UWPD informed about trends and suspects in jurisdictions across King County.
