Important Notice for Claiming "Exempt" Status on US Federal Income Taxes
If you claimed "exempt" status on federal income tax withholding during 2006 and you determine that you are eligible to renew your claim for 2007, you must submit a new Form W-4, "Employees Withholding Allowance Certificate", to the Payroll Office by February 1, 2007. The University of Washington will not refund federal withholding taxes due to either a late or an incomplete W-4 form.
If your filing status or withholding allowances have changed since the last filing of your Form W-4 you should also file a new Form W-4, "Employee Withholding Allowance Certificate"
