Commuter Services Overview

About Commuter Services

Commuter Services, a program of Transportation Services, is a self-sustaining organization committed to supporting the mission and goals of the University of Washington. It is specifically responsible for managing the university's limited parking resources to meet the varied needs of the campus community, while continually striving to provide outstanding service to its customers. Commuter Services is comprised of several units: Permits Sales and Administration , Facilities and Maintenance , Field Operations, Special Events, Accounting and Transportation Systems, which manage approximately 11,500 parking spaces on the Seattle campus, including several garages. With approximately 30,000 visitors a day, a variety of parking and transit options available make it possible for Commuter Services to meet its obligations to the university and to the community.

Parking at UW Seattle Campus

Before parking on campus, stop and purchase a parking permit from one of the following conveniently located gatehouses:

  • NE 45th St and Memorial Way by the Burke Museum
  • the underground Central Plaza Garage at 15th Ave NE and NE 41st St.
  • on Stevens Way by Meany Hall
  • on Pend Oreille Rd. off of Montlake Ave NE
  • directly in front of Husky Stadium off Montlake Blvd. NE
  • and in front of the UWMC on Columbia Rd.

At the gatehouses, Traffic Guides will assign a parking location according to your destination. Gatehouses are staffed weekdays from 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. until noon. At the gatehouse ask for disability parking and building access information as needed. Visitors parking is available in the Central Plaza Garage which can be entered from 15th Ave NE at NE 41st St. Download a wayfinding map for this garage.

The daily parking fee is $12/day between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. Stop at a gatehouse as you exit campus for a prorated refund if you parked on campus for less than 4 hours. An evening rate begins at 4 p.m. and is $6/evening. A weekend rate of $6 is required when parking on Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. Campus parking may be paid with cash or a Visa/Mastercard. A Husky Card Account and a U-PASS are required for all carpool parking, and the carpool rate for students, faculty and staff is $1.02 day.

Complimentary parking is available weekday evenings from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and on weekends from noon on Saturday to 6 a.m. Monday morning. Parking is also complimentary during holiday closures (click for 2008 and 2009 Holiday Gatehouse Closure dates). Parking is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking rules and regulations are enforced at all times on all days. During large events such as Husky football games, a special events fee may be charged in some or all areas of campus. For more information on daily parking fees, see:
