The University of Washington appreciates your hard work and dedication, which contribute to the overall success of the institution. As such, the UW supports the UW Service Recognition Program in order to acknowledge employees for their years of service to the University.
The program recognizes staff who are eligible for service awards for each five years of continuous service (i.e., 5, 10, 15, and so forth). At each milestone, employees receive a certificate of service and an award gift.
Human Resources works with each unit's service award coordinator to ensure that employees are notified of their upcoming milestone service award, so that they may select a service award prior to the milestone anniversary.
The UW Service Recognition Program recognizes employees who meet the following criteria:
Service is measured from the date of the most recent hire. Periods of academic, student, or temporary employment (including per diem, hourly, and fixed duration appointments) are not included.
If you are celebrating a milestone anniversary, congratulations!
If you are celebrating your five year milestone anniversary, you need not do anything. UW Human Resources service award coordinators will send your certificate and lapel pin to your department's service award coordinator.
For UW Medical Center employees only, milestone award recipients are invited to an annual service awards banquet. For more information, visit the UW Medical Center Organization Development & Training events webpage.
If you have a question about your service award, contact your department's service award coordinator or a UW Human Resources service award contact.
If you are the service award coordinator for your department, UWHR has developed the Service Award Coordinator Guide to help you with your department’s service recognition efforts.
