Listed below are the UW employment programs. Contact your unit’s administrator if you are uncertain of your position’s employment program.

Contract Classified Staff
UW employees in positions that are governed by a labor contract that specifies the terms and conditions of employment.
Classified Non-Union Staff
UW employees in positions covered by Washington State Department of Personnel civil service rules.
Professional Staff
UW employees in non-academic positions exempted from civil service rules and instead covered by the UW’s Professional Staff Program.
Other Employment Programs

Temporary Appointments
UW employs staff in a variety of temporary appointments that are limited in the number of hours or months that may be worked in a specified 12-month period.
