Taking POD Webinars

Understand

POD Webinars are presented through a partnership with content provider People-OnTheGo and range in length from a single 40-minute session to three 90-minute sessions. These live webinars focus on software/technology, communication, effective processes, and other areas essential to peak productivity.

To optimize learning, POD Webinars include advance distribution of the webinar slides via email and a link to a recording of the webinar afterward.

POD Webinars are open to all UW faculty and staff.

Act

See our webinar listings to view and register for upcoming webinars. Registration and payment are processed through POD’s catalog and registration system, so once you’ve selected a seminar to take, you will register and submit payment much as you would for any other POD class.

A few days before the webinar date, you’ll receive an email with login information and instructions. Make sure to save this email! When the time for your scheduled webinar arrives, click on the web link in the email to access the webinar.

To participate in a webinar, you’ll need three things:

  1. Computer with Internet access: Allows you to view the webinar presentation. POD Webinars can be taken on PCs and Macs; please note that iPads can be used to take live webinars but not to view webinar recordings. (See full technical requirements below.)
  2. Headphones or computer speakers: Allows you to hear the webinar instructor. (Alternatively, you can call into the webinar and listen over the phone while viewing on your computer, but long-distance charges will apply.)
  3. Keyboard: Allows you to “chat” with the instructor by typing your comments and questions.

After the webinar is finished, an evaluation form will open in a pop-up window. POD encourages you to complete this form! A link to a recording of the webinar will be emailed to you within three business days after the final webinar session, enabling you to access and review the webinar for up to one month.
