Q0300 Conflict Resolution Skills for Health Care Professionals
Health care teams are frequently under great pressure, and conflict makes difficult situations even more challenging. This interactive course is designed especially for patient care professionals and support staff to help develop more effective skills in dealing with tension, discord, and difficult behavior. Participants assess their preferred styles regarding conflict, and gain practical tips and tools to augment their coping methods. Discussion applies this learning to participants’ own clinical scenarios, so that participants can readily employ down-to-earth scripts and techniques from class. 6.1 Contact Hours of Continuing Education credit provided through UWMC Nursing Staff Development PA 6/08, an approved provider of continuing education by the Washington State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Q0050 Dealing with Difficult People
This tools-based course examines difficult workplace issues. Participants in this Linked Learning course use a tracking log; assess their style of dealing with conflict; plan outcomes; identify the roots of behavior; examine blocking, assertive, and aggressive behavior; and identify the roles difficult people play in conflict.

Q0070 Dealing with Workplace Behavior Problems
Gain an understanding of the applicable procedures and the responsibilities of the supervisor in administering corrective action. This course reviews the newer requirements specific to the UW’s collective bargaining agreements, civil service rules, and the Professional Staff Program. The focus is on changes in corrective action due to civil service reform. PREREQUISITE: Completion of Managing Employee Performance.

Q0430 Managing Stress
Stress is normal, but a successful approach to it can make a difference. Participants in this course learn tips and techniques, and gain new tools to deal effectively with difficult circumstances. Content addresses situations that seem impossible, as well as time pressures, changes in life and work, and everyday challenges. Develop a new outlook to change perspective at work and beyond.
