Welcome to the University of Washington. You are working for one of the nation's premier public Universities, with an international reputation for excellence.

The New Employee Orientation contains information that you need to know as you begin your UW employment. This includes key UW policies, how to obtain benefits information, worker health and safety information, how to get your Staff ID card (Husky Card), and how to apply for crediting of prior UW or other Washington State service.

The UW New Employee Orientation is "online" and required of all employees except those completing the separate orientations designed specifically for faculty, academic staff, and staff working at UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, or the Bothell and Tacoma campuses.

Scheduling a Site/Position Specific Orientation

If you are a faculty or academic staff, or if you work at one of the medical centers or UW Bothell or UW Tacoma, use the following information to schedule your orientation:

For UWMC, staff will be registered for orientation through UWMC Human Resources prior to their first day on the job. For questions call UWMC HR at 206-598-6116.
Health Sciences staff should consult their manager to determine which orientation is appropriate for them.
For HMC staff, call HMC Human Resources at 206-744-9220 and request to sign up for orientation. For Health Sciences staff who need HMC orientation because they work any amount of time at HMC, call Charles Thompson at 206-744-9768.
For UW Tacoma, call UWT HR at 253-692-5669
For UW Bothell, call UWB HR at 425-352-5462

Orientation Requirements

All new classified and professional staff who are not receiving one of the site/position specific orientations are REQUIRED to view and complete the online orientation within their first week of employment.

To obtain your Husky Card™ visit the Husky Card Account & ID Center located on the ground floor of Odegaard Library. Employees of UW Tacoma, UW Bothell, Harborview or UWMC should use the satellite ID production sites at their respective locations.

Before you begin the orientation:

Download and Print the New Employee Checklist (requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader)
Meet with your supervisor to review the checklist
Complete the Checklist – note the TO DO list – as soon as possible
