Customized Team Building Training

Teams are the workforce of the 21st century. This special program is designed to help existing work groups develop skills needed for working effectively as a team. Emphasis is on learning skills for communication, conflict management, and decision making, using a combination of theory and practice. The Team Building Training package is one of many possible customized packages Professional & Organizational Development could design specifically for your team. This program includes three phases, each customized to meet your needs.

Phase I: Team Assessment
The specific needs of the existing work group or team will be individually assessed and used to customize the team building activities and training that will follow.

Phase II: Foundations for Effective Team Work
In this phase, participants will learn the underlying values and principles that drive team work and will learn important communication skills.

Principles of Team Work: Discussion will focus on principles that guide effective team work and on identifying situations in which teams are appropriate and when they are not. Participants will learn how to recognize and overcome the obstacles that arise when individual or organizational values conflict with team goals.

Communication: Those who are effective team members have learned different techniques for communicating in a variety of challenging situations. Participants will practice these techniques in several common team situations, and will learn how to employ clear, concise communication.

Phase III: Teams in Action
In this phase, participants will learn tips for managing meetings, projects, deadlines, and conflict, including methods for decision making that will reduce resistance and encourage consensus.

Managing Team Conflict and Achieving Consensus: Participants will learn how to use essential meeting/project management tools to keep the team moving toward its goals, and will learn how to assess and manage team conflict. Exercises will provide participants with a chance to practice resolving conflict in ways that maintain the integrity of both team goals and team members. The meaning of team consensus and methods for achieving consensus will be discussed and practiced.

Program Length and Fee
Program length will vary depending upon client needs, but will range from approximately 6-24 hours total. The program fee will be determined following initial consultation with the training specialist who will design your training program.
