SLP Level 2 - Leadership Agility Series: Creative Solutions (SLP202)

Level 2 of the Strategic Leadership Program (SLP) focuses on leadership agility through a series of four half-day workshops that examine theories as well as practices and tools for application. Designed for UW managers, directors, and other executives, the Leadership Agility Series is based on the work of Bill Joiner and Stephen Josephs, authors of Leadership Agility: Five Levels of Mastery for Anticipating and Initiating Change.

The spring workshop provides a brief review of Joiner and Josephs' Leadership Agility Compass and levels of development. The focus then moves to the leadership competency used to transform habitual ways of thinking and bring an innovative approach to the novel and complex issues that arise in times of change—creative agility. In shifting environments, leaders face challenges that are undefined or unpredictable and have a number of possible solutions. They often have to act without all of the information they need and must form solutions that cross team, functional, and organizational silos.

This workshop examines tools and ways of thinking leaders can develop in order to manage the universal reality of conflicting agendas and to lead groups in a manner that boosts the discovery of creative solutions. Participants set goals, define an action path, and identify resources to develop their creative agility through current initiatives in their day-to-day work world.

Participation in the entire Leadership Agility Series is not required to attend this workshop. Learn more about SLP Level 2: Leadership Agility Series.
