The University Consulting Alliance is part of Professional & Organizational Development (POD), a division of Human Resources at the University of Washington (UW). Through the Alliance, POD administers contracts for services provided by both internal POD consultants and external private consultants to schools and departments across the UW, including UW Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center.
POD accepts consultants into the Alliance through a Request for Quotes and Qualifications (RFQQ) process that relieves UW clients of performing their own bidding process.
You are not required to be a member of the Alliance to do work for the UW. However, if you are a member of the Alliance, then all your consulting work at the UW must go through the Alliance. It’s typically easier for UW clients to contract with a consultant through the Alliance than it is for them to manage the bidding, contracting, and invoicing themselves.
UW clients select consultants from the Alliance roster. Once a proposal has been approved and a project is underway, POD processes consultants’ invoices and charges UW clients’ budgets internally.
The Alliance is entirely self-supporting and is not subsidized with State or University funds. In order to break even and meet the requirements of being a UW recharge center, POD must charge clients an administrative fee of 14% in addition to your fee.
Private consultants must apply for membership in the Alliance through the RFQQ process; the necessary forms may be obtained from POD by contacting email@example.com. All contracts will expire at the end of the current contracting period in June 2017, after which a new RFQQ process and contracting period will begin.
Qualified applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of outside OD consulting experience, as well as experience with clients in higher education. Other requirements are detailed in the RFQQ.
