V0120: Creating Values-Based Culture: The Role of Leaders at the U

Description:

On February 28, join Dr. Terry Macaluso and a group of UW regents for a unique, highly participatory Leadership Seminar that tackles leadership and values.

The University of Washington has recently developed six core values: Respect, Diversity, Collaboration, Innovation, Excellence and Integrity. Many organizations launch initiatives around core values-but in order to bring them to life, leaders must constantly make tough choices and display extraordinary emotional intelligence.

At this seminar, participants will have the opportunity to engage in small-group and facilitated discussions about the six values identified in the Leadership, Community & Values Initiative and their implications for us as leaders at the university and as members of the community.

Dr. Terry Macaluso, a renowned philosopher in the areas of leadership and decision making and a professor at the Evans School of Public Affairs, will be our guide as we use case studies to wrestle with the complexities and contradictions inherent in values-based leadership. A group of UW Regents will share their personal experience and perspectives.

Join us at this Leadership Seminar and commit to making the values of UW your own. Together we can create the kind of community- strong, intellectually challenging, personally fulfilling-that we all desire and deserve.

Lunch and refreshments are included.
