2007 Job Summary: First line administrative official responsible for the direction and coordination of the operational, financial and personal activities for a variety of clinical and/or support departments within a major (250+ bed) hospital. Jobs in this area may be found in a medical center's finance, facility services and patient care departments. Responsibilities: administratively coordinate and direct the preparation of medical center operating, capital, cash and construction budgets; typically manages a $60 - $80 million operational budget.
Reports to: Associate Hospital Administrator.
Qualifications: Requires a Master's degree in healthcare administration, nursing or related field and four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a healthcare organization.

Six years progressively responsible experience in hospital administration at an assistant or equivalent level. Certification as a public accountant is preferred.

2007 Job Summary: Reviews chart documentation to justify patient care to meet agency reimbursement requirements and to justify admission, treatment and length of stay. Monitors patients to assure the appropriateness of admission, continued hospitalization, length of stay, utilization of resources, and any potential denial of payment issues. Evaluates documentation regarding severity of illness and intensity of service for variaton from rregulatory agency standards. Consults with physician advisor as necessary to resolve deviations. Documents patient needs for continued hospitalization.
