As a member of a health care team, provide professional social work services in specialized areas such as Geriatrics, Sexually Transmitted Disease Center, Women's and Children's Program, Emergency Trauma Center, and the Intensive Care Unit focusing on providing direct client/patient care and/or research and/or teaching.
Under general direction perform two or more of the following:
1) Provide social work services to clients/patients, their families, and/or others, and/or participate in health sciences research, and/or participate in health sciences teaching activities.
2) Participate in practicum instruction of social work students; and/or provide work direction to Social Work Assistant(s), Social Work Resident(s), Social Worker I(s), or other assigned staff.
3) Exercise independent decision-making authority and expertise specific to assigned area of practice.
Provide specialty consultation to other health care staff;
Serve as practicum instructor for graduate or undergraduate social work students in practicum setting;
Participate in formal and informal teaching of health care professionals, health sciences students and the general community;
Coordinate elements of research studies and projects;
Participate in or chair departmental program development activities or committees;
Perform the duties of Social Worker I;
Perform related duties as required.
A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education AND two years of full-time professional social work experience in a health-care setting OR equivalent education/experience. Eligible to begin social work practicum instruction for the School of Social Work.
Registration as either an 1) Agency Affiliated Counselor, 2) Licensed Social Work Associate -Advanced, or Licensed Social Work Associate - Independent Clinical by the State of Washington within 30 days of employment.
Licensure as a Social Worker by the State of Washington or become licensed within one year of employment.
