DEFINITION
Perform semi-skilled work of graduated complexity pertinent to the control technician class under "in-training" in the college or university's building maintenance and alterations program.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Positions in this class are distinguished by assignment as a trainee for the control technician class receiving on-the-job and academic training to achieve journey-worker status.
TYPICAL WORK
Under guidance of a journey-worker, perform various maintenance and alteration duties, with special emphasis on those duties required to complete the specific on-the-job control technician training program;
Obtain, prepare and deliver materials to the job site and assist in assembly and installation;
Clean up and maintain shop areas, work sites and storage areas;
Complete on-the-job control technician training program requirements;
Complete related academic training which will consist of designated trades school and/or correspondence courses as available and applicable to the control technician class;
Perform related duties and functions as specified in approved training program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
High School graduation or equivalent; OR six months' experience as a maintenance aide, or equivalent. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
Examination Requirements:
A job element examination (including written, E & T and oral components) scored on the basis of job related experience, training, skill, ability and other elements which are established through job analysis.
