BASIC FUNCTION
Provide surveillance of cardiac rhythms of electrocardiographic Central Station monitors. Recognize, record, and report dysrhythmias and rhythm changes. Assist with cardiac rhythm interpretation; troubleshoot technical monitor problems.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Single class - no series.
Under general supervision, perform cardiac monitor surveillance in addition to specific unit support functions.
TYPICAL WORK
Perform continual surveillance of cardiac rhythms on electrocardiographic Central Station monitors;
Recognize, record, and report to appropriate nurse dyrhythmias and rhythm changes;
Assist nurses with cardiac rhythm interpretation;
Recognize and troubleshoot technical monitor problems such as 60 cycle interference; change recording paper;
Complete requisitions for patient diagnostic studies as requested by nursing staff;
Perform other duties such as maintain patient records, stamp forms, post reports;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
High school diploma or GED and completion of a course in cardiac dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, or one year experience in monitor surveillance in a coronary care/telemetry unit.
