BASIC FUNCTION

Perform heavy cleaning and sanitation duties in an institution food service operation.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under direct supervision, perform heavy washing, cleaning, trash removal and storage with minimal handling of prepared foods.

TYPICAL WORK

Maintain the sanitation and appearance of the dining area;

Clean floors; wash table tops and counters;

Clean and wash electric food mixer and appliances;

Operate dish and pot washing machines;

Remove trash from area and sanitize receptacles;

May wash, sterilize, stack and store china, glassware, silverware, pots and pans and kitchen utensils;

May perform stockroom duties;

Direct students and others in the dish room;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified

Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler's permit.
