BASIC FUNCTION
Perform skilled baking duties and lead others in baking.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Regularly assign, instruct and check the work of others.
TYPICAL WORK
Weigh and mix ingredients;
Prepare all types of bakery and dessert items according to standard recipes, menus, or verbal instructions;
Lead and participate in the storage and utilization of leftover ingredients and products; rotate stock;
Direct and participate in the cleaning and sanitation of baking areas and equipment;
Assure that standards of sanitation and safety are met;
Operate food service equipment, mixers and ovens, etc.;
Inventory and maintain necessary supplies and goods for assigned meals;
May assist in food cost control, estimate needs and yields accurately; keep and issue records; control portions; standardize recipes;
May be responsible for the preparation of all bakery and dessert items for an institutional food service;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler's permit; AND one year of experience as a Baker, or equivalent education/experience.
