BASIC FUNCTION
Perform skilled baking duties, including operation of equipment in an institutional food service activity.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, perform baking duties in an institutional food service activity.
TYPICAL WORK
Weigh and mix ingredients;
Prepare all types of bakery and dessert items according to standard recipes, menus, or verbal instructions;
Operate bakery equipment, food mixers, and ovens;
Adjust recipes to volume of demand;
Store leftover ingredients and products; assist in their utilization; rotate stock;
Clean work area and equipment; maintain sanitary and safe work area;
Relieve higher level bakers;
Inventory and maintain necessary supplies and goods for assigned meals;
May assist in the direction of food service workers and students;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler's permit AND one year of experience as a Food Service Worker II, including baking, or equivalent education/experience.
