BASIC FUNCTION

Perform systems analysis/programming tasks such as writing, testing, analyzing, designing, researching, developing, documenting, debugging, maintaining and modifying routine computer programs. Provide consulting and/or technical assistance to users/clients on routine hardware/software problems.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Under general supervision, write routine computer programs from existing specifications and perform modifications and updates to existing programs, databases and/or application software. Perform routine systems analysis tasks such as analyzing, researching and developing programming/system alternatives. Provide technical support to users/clients.

TYPICAL WORK

Modify existing programs to accommodate changes in systems requirements for equipment configurations;

Write, test and debug routine computer programs and perform modifications and updates to existing programs and/or application software;

Perform systems analysis and prepare technical specifications on routine maintenance items;

Translate detailed logic flow descriptions into coded computer program instructions;

Maintain database(s) and related operations such as screen, form or report requirements, and determine data types to be processed; revise record layout and data dictionary entries;

Provide consulting and/or technical assistance to users/clients on routine hardware/software problems;

Develop and maintain documentation of programs/applications/operational procedures;

Perform installation/troubleshooting of system hardware/software incidental to implementation of problem solutions;

Design detailed computer record and screen form layouts;

May participate as a team member on projects;

May direct the work of others;

Perform the duties of Systems Analyst/Programmer I;

Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - UW Contract Classified
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union

One year experience as a Systems Analyst/Programmer I

equivalent education/experience.
