CLASS SERIES CONCEPT
Produce documents using word processing equipment in a word processing unit or office environment. Word processing tasks constitute at least 75 percent of total work effort.
BASIC FUNCTION
Operate word processing equipment to produce a variety of documents.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general supervision, produce documents such as manuscripts, correspondence, labels, reports, lists, fiscal/statistical information, tables and other documents from rough draft and machine dictation.
TYPICAL WORK
Input, revise, and print materials;
Proofread material, making corrections for sentence structure, spelling, grammar and punctuation and ensure accuracy through cross check of source documents;
Update and revise electronic files; prepare final documents;
Maintain disk/mainframe filing system including cataloging, coding and filing documents and instructions for future use;
Record word processing work flow activities and prepare reports;
May review job requests and systems' capabilities with persons initiating job requests;
May perform typing, filing and other secretarial/clerical duties;
Perform related duties as required.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Classified Non-Union
Completion of a word processing training course
OR
equivalent education/experience.
