STATE LAW MANDATE—Salary and Wage Freeze: Engrossed Senate Substitute Bill (ESSB) 5460 freezes salary increases through February 18, 2010 for all non-classified employees, including faculty and academic staff. On May 1, 2009 House Bill (HB) 2328 became law. HB 2328 amends the provisions of ESSB 5460 to allow critical positions to receive retention salary increases that are not paid for from state or tuition dollars.
