The parties agree to participate in a sub-committee of the Conference Committee to address and resolve issues that are specific to Surgical Services, including the main Operating Room, Pavilion Surgery Center and Roosevelt Surgery Center. Without limitation, agenda items may include: call issues; off shift rotation rules; holiday scheduling issues; staffing issues; overtime; ergonomics; positioning and moving of equipment. Prior to convening the Surgery and Recovery Subcommittee, the issues(s) to be raised will be presented to the appropriate nurse manager so the nurse manager may have the opportunity to resolve the issue(s).
For WSNA, the sub-committee will continue to be composed of up to six staff nurses selected by WSNA (three from the main Operating Room, two from the Pavilion Surgery Center and one from the Roosevelt Surgery Center), and a WSNA nurse representative or designee. Time spent at committee meetings by subcommittee members will be considered work time and will be paid at the regular rate of pay. The Medical Center will bring representatives who can adequately address the issue(s) being discussed. The sub-committee will meet quarterly and will report its progress to the Conference Committee on a quarterly basis. For efficiency and continuity purposes, both parties will endeavor to bring the same representatives to each meeting. Additional meetings may be scheduled by mutual agreement.
This MOU, which is hereby incorporated by reference into the current Agreement between WSNA and the Board of Regents of the University of Washington, shall also be incorporated by reference into the subsequent Agreement that will take effect on July 1, 2007.
