Q: How are discipline and dismissal handled in the contract?

A: For employment-related issues ASEs can be disciplined and dismissed only for just cause. The disciplinary procedure is explained in the contract. For academic issues, see the next question. Discipline or Dismissal- Article 6, Sections 1 and 4

Q: Does the contract address academic discipline?

A: Academic discipline or dismissal of a student is completely separate from job-related discipline, and is not covered by the contract. Departments retain the right to follow standard procedures concerning academic discipline or dismissal. Discipline or Dismissal- Article 6, Section 2

Q: I have always completed performance evaluations on my ASEs. Can I continue to do so?

A: Yes. If you do, make sure that a copy of the evaluation is placed in the ASE's personnel file.
