Employee Referral Program

Share the Passion. Share the Success.

Refer a friend, family member or colleague for medical centers employment and earn up to $1,200.

As a Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center (UWMC) or University of Washington (UW) employee you now have a tremendous monetary incentive to introduce your extraordinary friends, family members, and peers to career opportunities at UW Medicine. If your eligible referrals apply and are hired, you'll receive an incentive of up to $1,200! In order to receive the incentive, your name must be listed by your referral during the online application process.

You can receive multiple incentives, too. The Employee Referral Program pays out up to $1,200 every time one of your eligible employee referrals is hired into an incentive eligible position at UW Medical Center or Harborview Medical Center.

How do I refer someone?

Making referrals is very easy!

In order to for you to be eligible for a referral payment, your referral must apply on-line for an incentive eligible position at HMC jobs or UWMC jobs. Each incentive eligible position has a special "assessment" that asks the candidate to identify who, if anybody, referred her/him for HMC or UWMC employment. In order for you to receive the referral award, the candidate you referred must enter your name in the designated location at the time of application.

How are referral incentives paid?

Your referral incentive will be paid like this:

  • $600 is paid after your referred employee completes new employee orientation
  • $600 is paid after your referred employee completes probation or six months

In order to be eligible to receive a referral incentive, you and your referral must be employed by the University, in good standing, and in pay status at the time payment is to be made.

Referral incentives are paid through the payroll process and are subject to all applicable deductions and taxes. Referral incentives are reported as income for tax purposes.
