Sick Child Care

Please note, Virginia Mason has announced the closing of the TLC program. The last day of service is March 31, 2015. WorkLife is actively working to secure a new sick childcare service.

If your child is mildly ill and between one and 12 years old, you can find sick child care through Tender Loving Care (TLC) at Virginia Mason Medical Center. TLC is open to the public on a fee-for-service basis. The University underwrites the entire daily fee for UW benefits-eligible employees working .50 FTE or more and academic student employees. Families pay only a one-time registration fee of $5 per child.

Children with these illnesses are accepted at TLC:

  • influenza
  • colds
  • low-grade fever
  • strep throat
  • ear infection
  • bronchitis
  • mononucleosis
  • diarrhea and vomiting
  • tonsillitis
  • injuries
