University of Washington On-Site Childcare

The University of Washington recognizes that offering childcare is an important benefit to our employees and students with children. UW Human Resources’ coordinates the UW's three Children's Centers on or near the main UW Campus, and the children's center at Harborview Medical Center.

Finding Childcare Outside the UW

UW CareLink offers a childcare referral service that can help you locate quality, professional care for your infant through pre-schooler. You can access the full array of UW CareLink resources through the APS HealthLink portal (use "UW" as the company code to log in and register). Look for the LIVEConnect instant messaging tool in the upper right corner of the home page for access to a consultant who specializes in childcare referral services.

Caregiver Directory

The Caregiver Directory, is a free service provided by the Graduate and Professional Student Senate for University of Washington faculty, staff, and students. It provides a means to connect potential caregivers and employers for childcare, elder or adult care, or to run errands or do light housekeeping.

Sick Child Care

If your child is mildly ill and between one and 12 years old, you have access to sick child care through Tender Loving Care at Virginia Mason Medical Center. The University underwrites the entire daily fee for UW benefits-eligible employees working .50 FTE or more and for academic student employees. Eligible families pay only a one-time registration fee of $5 per child.

Childcare Assistance Program for Students

For student parents, the Childcare Assistance Program for Students provides information about childcare and other programs, including financial assistance to cover basic childcare costs for those eligible.
