Preventive Care

Your health insurance plan makes it easier for you to get preventive care. Preventive care is covered in full, subject to use of the plans' network providers, and based on the schedule for services, or on recommendation of your physician.

Back-to-School (or College) Readiness

When it comes to preparing for school or sending your young adult off to college, make sure that you are taking full advantage of your health plan coverage. Learn more.

Blood Pressure

Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the practice of adapting a job to the person so work can be performed without harmful strain or injury. EH&S has resources available on their web site to assist University departments with ergonomics. Learn more.

Flu Prevention & Immunizations

Flu shots are available seasonally. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), this is the single best way to keep from getting and spreading the flu. All employees who would like a combined seasonal/H1N1 flu shot are encouraged to get one this season. Learn more.

Check the CDC Immunization Guide to make sure you and your dependents' immunizations are up to date. These services may be covered under your health plan once the necessary deductions and co-payments have been satisfied. Mammogram Screenings

The UW has partnered with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to offer regularly scheduled mobile mammography at convenient campus locations, making it easier than ever for you to get a mammogram. An annual screening mammogram is one of the best methods available to detect breast cancer in its early stages when it’s easier to treat successfully. The American Cancer Society recommends women age 40 and older should have a screening mammogram every year and should continue to do so for as long as they are in good health. Learn more.

Sun Safety

A sunburn or tan will fade, but damage to deeper layers of skin remains and can eventually cause cancer. Sun-safe habits should begin in childhood and last a lifetime. Be sun smart. Learn more.
