The Benefits Office offers workshops to help you plan for retirement. Workshops are geared toward your specific retirement plan—UWRP, PERS, LEOFF, or TRS.
This monthly three-hour workshop covers the following topics:
Who should attend: Faculty, librarians, and professional staff who are participating in the UW Retirement Plan (UWRP) and expect to retire within the next 12 months.
Note: Spouses and partners are welcome to attend this workshop on a space-available basis. Please contact benefits@uw.edu to register your spouse/partner.
Most UW Retirement Plan (UWRP) participants know that by contributing to their retirement plan, the UW matches employee contributions 100 percent and the employee invests total contributions into UWRP-approved funds. Not everyone realizes that there is a second part to the UWRP—the UW Supplemental Retirement Plan (UWSRP). This workshop provides an explanation of the UW Supplemental Retirement Plan (UWSRP), the eligibility requirements, and details on how the UWSRP benefit is calculated.
Who should attend: Employees who were eligible for the University of Washington Retirement Plan (UWRP) prior to March 1, 2011 and who, at the time of retirement, anticipate being at least age 62 with at least 10 years’ continuous participation in the UWRP.
Note: Spouses and partners are welcome to attend this workshop on a space-available basis. Please contact benefits@uw.edu to register your spouse/partner.
During this three-hour, practical retirement workshop, you will learn about arranging details of retirement, tailoring benefits to best meet retirement income needs, and continuing medical plans. Timelines, forms, and procedures are discussed, and you’ll receive all of the materials necessary to file for retirement.
Who should attend: Classified staff, participating in PERS Plan 1, 2 or 3, who are planning to retire within the next 12 months.
Note: Spouses and partners are welcome to attend this workshop on a space-available basis. Please contact benefits@uw.edu to register your spouse/partner.
