If you retired from the UW Retirement Plan (UWRP) and wish to return to work at the UW, you cannot work greater than 40% of full-time in any 12-month period beginning July 1 through the following June 30. This applies to any and all positions you work at the UW.

As a reemployed retiree, you do not contribute to , or receive Social Security credits from, any post-retirement UW pay. This is due to the existing agreement between the UW and the Social Security Administration. You are not able to elect to “opt in” to paying Social Security.
Note too, that if you are receiving Social Security payments, there may be a limit to what you can earn through active employment and still retain your full Social Security income. It is your responsibility to understand and keep track of potential income limitations. Please review the Social Security Administration’s website at: www.ssa.gov.
A UWRP retiree who is reemployed at the University in any position that is not eligible for Social Security must complete the Statement Concerning Your Employment in a Job Not Covered by Social Security.
