Students who are eligible and enrolled in this program may also enroll eligible dependents. The same dependent eligibility rules apply to all four quarters. An eligible dependent is defined as:
Students may add dependents mid-quarter within 60 days upon experiencing one of the following "Life Changes".
To enroll your dependent, go to the enrollment web page. After you have submitted the change online, call WPAS at 206-441-7574, ext. 3306 to verify that your new dependent has been added to your plan. Once this is done, WPAS will contact the UW to update your status.
If you held a UW-paid GAIP-eligible appointment in spring, you can continue your GAIP coverage on a self-pay basis by contacting WPAS directly in July to enroll.
If you held a UW-paid GAIP-eligible appointment in fall or winter, subsequently lost your UW-paid coverage, enrolled in the self-pay option at the time you lost your coverage, you can continue self-paying through the month of September.
View more self-pay information.
You will be notified via the summer quarter memo of the enrollment deadline for summer quarter. However, it will typically be on or around June 20.
If you are eligible for summer quarter coverage based on prior coverage, dependent premiums must be paid in full for the entire quarter directly to WPAS at the beginning of summer quarter. If you also have a GAIP-eligible appointment for summer quarter, you must still pay WPAS; there will be no payroll deductions. It is your responsibility to ensure that your dependent premium is paid. If you do not receive an invoice from WPAS by the middle of July, you need to contact WPAS at 206-374-9439 (ask for the individual who handles dependent payments for GAIP).
