Special Open Enrollment - Marriage or Registration of a Qualified Domestic Partnership

Where subscriber's dependent becomes eligible due to the subscriber's marriage or registration of a Qualified Domestic Partnership (QDP).

Options Required Actions
If you are a subscriber and you previously waived medical coverage, you must:
  • You must enroll yourself in medical insurance to add your new spouse or qualified domestic partner (QDP) and any newly-eligible dependents to your medical insurance coverage.

Within 60 days of the marriage or registration of the partnership, submit these forms to the Benefits Office:

If you are a subscriber and are already enrolled:
  • You may enroll your spouse/QDP in medical and/or dental insurance.
  • You may enroll your newly-eligible dependent(s) in medical and/or dental insurance.
  • You may change your medical and/or dental plan only if you are enrolling your spouse/QDP or newly-eligible child(ren).
  • You may waive medical insurance for yourself, and medical and/or dental insurance for your eligible dependent(s), only if they all have other comprehensive group medical insurance coverage.

Within 60 days of the marriage or registration of the partnership, submit these forms to the Benefits Office:

Coverage Begins
  • Coverage and/or plan change begins on the first day of the month following the marriage or registration of qualified domestic partnership, unless the marriage or registration occurs on the first day of the month, then coverage and/or plan change begin on that day.
