Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance
for Residents and Fellows

Long-term disability insurance (LTD) replaces a portion of your income if you are unable to work due to illness or injury (see Covered Events below). This page describes the optional Long-Term Disability insurance plan, MedPlus Advantage Program, sponsored by the American Medical Association (AMA). This program is available to UW Residents and Fellows, and the policy plan year runs from July 1 to June 30.
As a state employee you also have the option of enrolling in this program or the optional PEBB long-term disability insurance program available to all faculty and staff. When considering long-term disability insurance you should consider which program would be best for you before you make an enrollment decision.

You are eligible if you are a M.D., Ph.D., D.O., D.M.D., or D.D.S. who is a full-time Resident, Fellow, or Senior Fellow enrolled in one of the academic departments at the University of Washington School of Medicine, or are enrolled in the School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, or School of Pharmacy.
