STATE MANDATED SALARY AND HIRING FREEZE

Salary Freeze: Through February 18, 2010 state legislation freezes salary increases for professional staff, faculty and academic appointees, except that critical positions may receive retention salary increases that are not paid for from state or tuition dollars. Learn more about the salary freeze and freeze exceptions. The freeze does not apply to contract classified and classified non-union staff.

Hiring Review: Effective July 1, 2009, the state hiring freeze ended. Beginning July1, dean, chancellor, vice president, or vice provost authorization is not required to fill classified, professional, and temporary staff positions paid from general operating fund (GOF) or designated operating fund (DOF) budgets.
