Individual Travel Charge Card
Per Diem
Advance
After you have your travel approval you need to think about
how you want to pay for your expenses. You may apply for an
individual travel charge card. The individual travel
charge card gives you the flexibility to pay easily for everything.
Without an individual travel charge card, you may ask your department
to pay
for your airfare and registration upfront and then get a per
diem advance for your lodging and meals. Before you decide what
works best for you, find out how your department handles travel
and what expenses are reimburseable.
Here are a few money tips:
- Read all sections of this website to learn about
travel.
- Apply for an
Individual travel charge card
(unless for personal reasons you do not want a charge
card) because it's easier to pay with this as you go
and be reimbursed after your trip.
-
Per diem
advance
: Get one of this if you don't have a Individual travel
charge card or if
you are a individual travel charge card holder traveling to a remote
location
where a travel charge card is not widely accepted.
-
Travel Expense Voucher
(TEV)
: No matter how you choose to pay for your trip, complete
your TEV as soon as possible after you return.
