EXTREMELY DIFFICULT CONTEST
with a LOUSY PRIZE

The headlines in nine of the articles in this issue are based on pulp/noir novels and one is based on a recent popular book by an author with a name that sounds a lot like "John Irving". The first person who is able to name the novel AND author of the book that each headline is based on, will win a "special" prize. Consider the clue above a head start. Since the headlines are based on sometimes obscure novels, this is a VERY hard contest and I wouldn't be surprised if no one is able to figure it out.

First: You have to determine which of the headlines are actually based on a novel,

Second: You have to know about 30's, 40's and 50's pulp hardboiled detective novels,

Third: You have to be able to decipher my sometimes not-so-obvious headlines,

Fourth: You have to figure out the author of the book, but with Google this part shouldn't be too difficult.

Fifth, the Lousy Prize: Answers (and the winner, if there is one) will appear in the next issue.
