Global IT Connectivity

Before leaving the U.S., UW travelers should consult the International Travel Connectivity map to see what the phone, computer and email connections are at their destination. Those working away from the UW should also consider the UW Internet Connectivity Kit (UWICK). The UWICK is a CD that contains software that gives UW faculty, staff and students access to networked communication and information faculty services. With the UWICK, using your home computer and a modem or a campus computer with a direct network connection, you can do the following and more:

• Communicate with others using email
• Search the World Wide Web
• Protect your computer from viruses

You can buy the kit at the main University Book Store Computer Center or its branches at the HUB, Health Sciences, UW Bothell campus, and UW Tacoma campus. When you purchase the kit, you need your current University student or staff ID and $1.00. The UWICK comes on a single CD that includes software for both Macintosh and Windows systems.
