Faculty Field Tour Washington: Your New Frontier
Now in its tenth year, the Faculty Field Tour is a week long tour in June for new to Washington faculty members that provides exposure to the economy, geography, and culture of Washington state. President Emmert leads the tour, with stops at places like the Boeing Everett Plant, eastern Washington orchards and wheat farms, the Yakama Indian Nation, and many others. This is a great chance for faculty to meet new colleagues, see parts of Washington they have only heard about, and understand better where their students come from.
"They feed you, shelter you, pamper you, inform you, teach you....You will give up 5 days of your summer, but the return will be well beyond that."
Ufuk Ince, Assistant Professor, UW Bothell, 2003 tour member
