Sick Child Care
UNDERSTAND
If your child is mildly ill and between one and 12 years old, you can find sick child care through Tender Loving Care (TLC) at Virginia Mason Medical Center. TLC is open to the public on a fee-for-service basis. The University underwrites the entire daily fee for UW benefits-eligible employees working .50 FTE or more and academic student employees. Families pay only a one-time registration fee of $5 per child.
Children with these illnesses are accepted at TLC:
- influenza
- colds
- low-grade fever
- strep throat
- ear infection
- bronchitis
- mononucleosis
- diarrhea and vomiting
- tonsillitis
- injuries
ACT
- PRIOR to YOUR CHILD’S ILLNESS, submit a registration form and a Consent for Care form. You can either:
- Print a copy of both forms and fax them to 206-956-2023, or
- register online and then print out a Consent for Care form and fax it in.
- WHEN YOUR CHILD IS SICK AND YOU NEED to USE TLC, call 206-583-6521 to ensure space is available. The TLC staff will remind you of the items you will need to bring for your child (including lunch, diapers/wipes, change of clothes, etc.) as listed on the TLC webpage.
