Work Practices

Attach 6 mil plastic catch apron on windowsill. Ensure plastic is placed to catch all material dislodged by work. HEPA vac all loose material. Spray area of material to be removed with amended water. Chisel material out, rewetting frequently. Place material that has been removed into waste bag. HEPA vac area where removal was done. Continue procedure throughout window. HEPA vac as necessary to remove dust and small pieces of debris in work area (on windowsill, plastic, etc.).

Broken glass with putty residue should be placed in appropriate container to be disposed of in regular garbage. Do not recycle.

When finished, wet paper towel and wipe area to assure all dust and debris is removed. Wrap all plastic sheeting up and place in plastic bag. Secure with duct tape. Wet wipe gloves and seal in ziplock bag. Dispose of waste in shop dumpster. Since the material contains ≤1% asbestos, it does not need to be disposed of as regulated waste or labeled. Re-putty with non-asbestos putty.
