There are many ways to get to work: take the bus or train, bike or walk, drive alone, carpool with a colleague, or join the Flexcar car-sharing program. Because campus parking is limited and expensive (costs about $200 per quarter), and Seattle traffic is among the worst in the nation, University administration encourages you to seek alternatives to driving alone.
Once on campus, you can take the free Health Sciences Express shuttle, which provides transportation to many of our affiliate sites, including the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), Roosevelt Clinic, Harborview Medical Center (HMC), Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center (CHRMC), and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC). For route and schedule information, visit the Health Sciences Express site.
For more information on parking and other transportation options, visit the Commuter Services site.
Faculty and staff purchase U-PASS stickers in person at Parking Services. The faculty/staff U-PASS costs $61.80 per quarter payable by cash, check, Husky Card Account, or MasterCard/VISA. Permanent employees may also elect to purchase an annual U-PASS through payroll deduction. Temporary, hourly employees are not eligible to purchase a U-PASS, but may purchase a similar product called the UW FlexPass.
NOTE: The Commuter Services website describes the program available to UW Seattle faculty, staff and students only. Harborview, UW Bothell and UW Tacoma have fiscally-separate programs with similar, but not identical benefits.

NOTE: To purchase a parking permit or U-PASS (bus/train pass), you must have an Employee ID number (EID) and Husky Card. However, free bus tickets are available for new employees.
If you're a new employee and don't have a Husky Card yet, take the bus on us!
Bring your Employee ID number (EID) with you to a Commuter Services Office to get up to 10 free bus tickets good for Metro Transit, Community Transit, or Sound Transit. Each ticket allows you a free, one-way trip.
NOTE: Keep in mind that these tickets are only for your use as a new employee and are not transferable
